  • WDSC 7 Slow

Following the replies posted to this post (WDSC so slow on Plug-in Development refresh ) http://www.code400.com/forum/showpos...6&postcount=30

    I ran a test...
On our live machine (520 blade), a 9900 line pgm takes about 3 minutes to refresh. On our test machine (820), i cancel it after 55 minutes when it has not yet completed.

Are their any setting I can tweak on the test machine? Or anything at all I can do?
    Regards

    Re: WDSC 7 Slow

Further tests show that when the refresh is requested on the test box(v520), the windows job, javaw.exe, which starts with eclipse.exe when WDSC is started, goes into overdrive, using 49-65%. When done on the live box(v540), javaw.exe remains <04%.
Also: on live, the qzcsrvs job has my user name whereas the testbox has quser.

Seems more & more like 1 of 2 things... a settings problem on the test box, or a version problem.

check the PTF levels on both connections. perhaps the production box is missing some PTFs. that could account for some of the disparity. also it sounds like you have some configuration differences in WDSC between the connections if one of them sucks up a major part of the CPU and the other connection barely touches it.

        Thx Tom
I'll check the config... the PTF's are up-to-date on the problem box.

Did you also check the PTF Level from WDSC?

Open Connection --> Position on iSeries Objects --> Right click --> Verify Connection?

            Re: WDSC 7 Slow

I would have thought that most of the processing should be happening on the PC side. However, when processing on the two boxes is different, check the memory available in the subsystem where the Q job is running. In my production box, I have a special subsystem, but I don't on the test box. Also, the overall memory is probably different. My production box has 3x the memory of the test box. Are both systems local ?

              Thx for the replies all.
WDSC is totally up to date... no missing PTF's or anything.
On both machines the Q job runs in QSYSWRK.
Didn't have time to check the config on the PC... 'tis weekend after all (after 1pm on Fri). I will check on Monday.
              have a great weekend all.
              Regards
