SMTP using port 587

My SMTP client is attempting to connect to port 587 when sending an email. How do I make it connect on port 25?

My first guess is that your SMTP settings specify a non-standard port. In IBM Navigator for i go Network->Servers->TCP/IP Servers. That will give you a list of servers. Right-click SMTP->Properties. On the General page, check the Mail router.

I have learned that the environment variable QIBM_SMTP_SERVER_PORT is what determines the outgoing port number.
