  • Ibm i information sources more and more are drying out

Is it just me or are you also feeling that the information sources for Ibm i more and more are drying out ?

Reading this announcement that IBM Systems magazine will cease publishing at the end of 2020
    https://www.itjungle.com/2020/11/04/...ommunity-site/

News400 / iSeriesnews and DeveloperWorks disappeared years ago.

The IBM Community should replace DeveloperWorks but I find that the IBM Community home page is a mess
and have never figured it out.

Fortunately we still have some good sites like
Helping you figure out how to survive, adapt, and thrive in this complex IT ecosystem, whether you are an end user of information technology or a vendor of information technology products.

MC Press Online - Technical resources and help for a wide variety of business computing issues. Specializing in technologies related to AS/400 and iSeries

    http://www.scottklement.com/
    https://www.rpgpgm.com/

    to mention a few.

The fora have also disappeared. And the knowledge in them too.
The only English speaking left as far as I know is

Understanding German ( not my native language ) I have also found this

But never the less - do you know other usefull sites ?

There are a number of resources available on https://www.common.org but I'm pretty sure most (or all) is behind a paywall. There are also groups on LinkedIn that you can seek assistance from too, but most of them need approvals for gaining access and some can take months for that approval to get in.

I second the motion about midrange.com.

I often add "site:midrange.com" to my google searches because the mailing list archives have so much useful information.

My impression is that there are more people following the midrange.com mailing lists than participate in these code400 forums, although there are many people who follow both.

Midrange.com can be usefull when searching for a specific problem.
But the articles in IBM Systems magazine and ITJungle very often tells me about
improvements and tips and tricks that I otherwise never would know about.

And there is a major difference in an article about a theme ie debugging via RDI and
a bunch of mails from a mail list.

There is also some RPG and IBM i activity on Stack Overflow https://stackoverflow.com. I am following the rpg, rpgle, and as400 tags. Occasionally, there are posts about role playing games tagged with "rpg", but the role playing game community and the ILE RPG community have so far managed to just ignore the other posts.
