Performance of table operations with a row change timestamp column?

I just found out about this feature with DB2.

I am just curious about the performance change of adding this to a table. I assume it wouldn't be too much of a difference, but IBM has done a lot of weird things (using characters to mimic a boolean).

We have some tables with more than 100 million records so I'd be hoping that this would not add hours to a table build job.
