  • IBM i IFS Directory "MOUNT" Question

Is it possible to ?mount? an IFS directory on one IBM i to a directory on another IBMi (as opposed to mounting it to a Windows server)? We need files created in a folder on SystemA to physically reside and be accessible on SystemB.

Re: IBM i IFS Directory "MOUNT" Question

Emmanuel's reply did what we wanted but now is there a way to narrow that down to a specific directory? Using QFileSvr.400 "mapped" the entire other system's IFS and we would like to narrow it do just a specific directory.

        Can this be done?

        Thanks again!

Any reason you can't use MOUNT? You'd make sure the NFS server is started on SystemA, using the STRNFSSVR command, and export the desired directory, using the EXPORT command. Assuming that network connectivity allows it, SystemB should then be able to MOUNT the exported directory.

See Network file system (NFS) for a basic introduction to NFS on i.
