no joblog entries for called programs

We are starting to use more MVC programming, where a control program calls all the other programs. The job log only shows the first calling program. I can see this is working the way it should, but I am very much used to following the job log to see exactly where something goes wrong.

Does anyone have any suggestions, other than running debug? I know I could set up my own version of logging by using SQL LprintF function or something similar. Any other ideas?
