  • Task Force releases the new open source project "Rapid Fire"

Today Task Force releases the new open source project "Rapid Fire'". With Rapid Fire you can migrate a file after changing the structure - e.g. a new field has added - in the background. The users can continue working with their application during the migration. Only in the final stage they have to stop their work. For files with millions or even billions of records you can reduce the downtime of your application from hours or even from days to minutes.

Task Force, the specialist in application modernization with Profound UI and Software Change Management with CMOne, once again provides a new and important product to the IBM i community for free.

    Get Rapid Fire now.

        Hi Frank,

how does Rapid Fire deal with logical files attached to file? Any tricks in there to avoid having to recreate these?
Help you out? Sure. Which way did you come in?

Re: Task Force releases the new open source project "Rapid Fire"

For a Rapid Fire job you have to specify the physical and all the logical files attached to the physical file manually. For each file (physical and logical) you have to specify the creation command (CRTPF, CRTLF, CREATE TABLE, CREATE VIEW ...). Automatically consideration of the logical files you can get only in connection with our Change Management System CMOne.

Your profile shows location NL. If this means the Nederlands, we are exhibitor at the Common BeNeLux in Eindhoven from 18th to 19th of November. Here is the link.

Frank, no problems getting to the website from here.. DeadManWalks, you and your boss should know that the network between US and Germany is pretty complex, a lot of equipment in between your location and the hosted site. Could be something in your LAN which is not resolving the URL or something between, its hard to say what without you doing your own checks, I would suggest you run a tracert or something to find out what the block is. Then contact the owner of the offending equipment. Frank has no control over any of it as long as the server at his end is up and correctly configured in the DNS (which it appears to be as others can get to it).

                      Chris...
