  • Spool file status of FIN

    Hi friends,

    How to avoid FIN?
    who can tell me?

    Thanks in advance!

The iSeries is such a good machine that it doesnâ??t sell services, the IBM insider believes.

Plus, most of the IBM software youâ??d want or need already comes packaged with the box.

If IBM really marketed it, everyone would buy it. ... But then IBM wouldnâ??t sell services, software, and reliability/backup.

As it is, the customer is the best marketing the platform has.

Re: Spool file status of FIN

The Spoolfile status of FIN is only applicable when looking at the spoolfiles within a job.

When jou do something like WRKUSRJOB or WRKSBMJOB and then look at the spoolfiles by using option 8. All the spoolfiles created during the running of this job will be listed. Any of the spoolfiles which have either been printed or been deleted will have a status of 'FIN' meaning finished.

Once the job is deleted the spoolfile listing is removed.

If you use WRKSPLF then you will not see any spoolfiles with a status of FIN.

    hope this helps

      Hi

When *SPLF is printed out it becomes *FIN, unless you specify SAVE(*YES) on *SPLF before it complete printing.

Re: Spool file status of FIN

FIN isnt a valid type in wrkoutq its just seen when using wrkjob/wrkusrjob after spooled files have been sent to the printer and are not in status SAV.

You can change your spooled files to sav
        chgsplfa save(*YES)

The status of the spooled file. The following list of values is
used to describe the file's status:
o RDY (Ready) The file is available to be written to an output
        device by a writer.
o OPN (Open) The file has not been completely processed and is
not ready to be selected by a writer.
o DFR (Deferred) The file has been deferred from printing.
o SND (Sending) The file is being or has been sent to a remote
        system.
o CLO (Closed) The file has been completely processed by a
program but SCHEDULE(*JOBEND) was specified and the job that
produced the file has not yet finished.
o HLD (Held) The file has been held.
o SAV (Saved) The file has been written and then saved. This
file will remain saved until it is released.
o WTR (Writer) This file is currently being produced by the
        writer on an output device.
o PND (Pending) The file is pending to be printed.
o PRT (Printing) The file has been completely sent to the printer
but print complete status has not been sent back.
o MSGW (Message Waiting) This file has a message which needs a
reply or an action to be taken.
The following status values with a '*' in front of them will be
displayed when an action was performed on the file as a result of
        taking an option.
o *CHG (Changed) This file was changed using option 2 (Change).
o *HLD (Held) This file was held using option 3 (Hold).
o *RLS (Released) This file was released using option 6
        (Release).
