  • Split spool file

    Hi All,

Is there any way I can split spool file and distribute report by e-mail or by PDF?

At present our system printing Budget Report by Department number and someone have to separate and distribute manually, which is lengthy process. But if I can split it and send to our Intranet by PDF, user can go and check online and if they wanted to print it they can do it.

Please let me know if there is any way to do this.

    Re: Split spool file

    Bharat,

Boy thats an open ended question...
The answer is sure............There are many software packages available or
for free you could use the cvt2PDF programs

and the SNDDST command to send
out the emails if you want to automate it by outqueue then use this

    Hope this helps
If you want package info let me know

          Re: Split spool file

          Bharat,

Change the program to break the report the way you want, and at the break close the printer file and open it. This will create multiple spools out of the same job. Now all the spools will have same spool name, how do you indentify which spool belongs to which break, you don't want to open the spool to see who it belongs to. Call a CLP before you open the printer file at the break. Rename the previous spool to an identifiable name by break. Once the job is complete you can create individual PDF's by break and email them.

I've implemented this for one of my client. If you need more details let me know.

          Best regards
          Raghu

            Re: Split spool file

            Raghu,

Great, I like the idea but at this time I do not want to change this package program or write an extension program. I would like to split the spool file and save as different name with department and use Jimmyâ??s CVT program.

            Again, I appreciate your help.
