  • Printing w/forms overlay

    Hello,
I was wondering whether anyone in this forum has had any experience with overlay printing from the iseries. ?

    Re: Printing w/forms overlay

I user Infoprint Server and Inforprint Designer from IBM.

I generate a form and overlay on a WYSIWYG edit upload it to the iSeries. I then will either do a override print file on change the print file to use form and page definition created by Infoprint.

It works and isn't all that hard to use.

What do you want to know?

Well, I know that my company will not spend the money to add Infoprint server and designer to our box, so I didn't know if there was an alternative way of doing it. It seems though that we'll have to obtain some sort of WYSIWYG software in order to utilize it.
I have read where you can take something such as a word document, and using it as an overlay, store it on your AS400 somehow. I'd like to take something like a Purchase Order form and merge it with spool file data in order to produce a form.
