  • *CR or *CRLF

I have to send a DB file to another platform that belongs to one of our business partners. They want long file names (e.g. /aaaaa/bbbbb/cccc/some_long_file_name.dta ) I plan to use CPYTOIMPF to copy it to the IFS where it will be FTP'd to their machine. Not sure whether to use RCDDLM(*CRLF), RCDDLM(*CR), etc. Which is most common? The person I am working with on their side is not likely to know.

    We always use *CRLF.

The only place I've ever heard of RCDDLM(*CR) is on legacy Apple OSes, such as VERY old versions of MacOS, or even older stuff such as the Apple II environment.

Current Apple products (MacOS, iOS, iPad OS) prefer RCDDLM(*LF), as do all of the Unix-type OSes, including Linux, Android, etc.

RCDDLM(*CRLF) is normally used by the Microsoft OSes, such as Windows.
