  • Repository Database

    Hello,

I am looking to backup/reorg some tables of the system I manage.
While looking at the best ways to do so, I found many articles that said that runstats should be run after running reorg.
I found out how to run the runstats utility, but I cannot figure out how to create a repository database.
I tried using the data management console, and the clp but it looks like I have to create the repository database first?
Does anyone have any experience with creating/managing a repository database?

... are you sure you are working on an IBM i and on Db2 for i?
On IBM i we save the schema completely.
There is no need to update the statistics after having reorganized the tables, because the statistics are kept permanently up to date.
After a reogranization it may take some time (same as updating the statistics manually) until the statistics are up to date.
On IBM i we also have only a single database per IASP.
