  • ODP and Access path

    Hi,
Can anyone please tell me what are Open Data Path and Access Path?
    Are they same or different?

    Thank you,

    Re: ODP and Access path

The Access Path is kinda like the index of a file. It's how the OS is able to find the data in the sequence you specified when you created a keyed physical or logical file definition.

The Open Data Path is what gets created when you open a file for I/O inside your program. It is like a pointer to your file's location on disk.

These two concepts are not the same.

For more info, check the Database Programming Manual in the System i Information Center.

Open data path(ODP) is define all I/O operation for a file but access path path create a indexing of data through which it is indexed from file .
