I am trying to set up this command to send an email from a program to the email running on the server. Is this doable under v4r3?

V4R3 can be used to send e-mail. Where are you having problems?

            Re: snddst (email)

I probably do not have the system configured correctly. I also have a 730 machine that is on v4r5, which I have downloaded the MMail you mentioned. It is not getting out, so something must be wrong in the configuration on that machine also. On the 730, I set the default router so that it goes out, as I can now ping a location outside, but the email is not going. HELP>>>>>>>

            Thanks,
            Jim

Have you started the mail server framwork STRMSF?

Here is a link for V5R2 setting up the SMTP on the iSeries. It is roughly the same as V4R2.

Sending Email from the AS400 - I have the snddst working on one my boxes, but am trying to get it to work on a customers box now. My ISP is not inhouse, theirs is. Does this make a difference in the config on the 400?

                  Re: snddst (email)

Sometimes the mail server (and/or anti-spam software) you are sending it to will see it as a "relay" (used by spammers). You may need to get the mail server and/or ISP to allow traffic from the iSeries IP address.

Thanks, I suspected it was their Mail server stopping it, but could not determine for sure.

Buy an old 500 MHz pc and load up linux......youll have a mail server running in minutes for less than 100 bucks

You can still get help from the old gate keeper of MMAIL @

I don't want a mail server, just to be able to use snddst to have a program send an email to support people on their phone when an ATM needs something.
