  • Non-Java 5250 Emulator ?

    Are there non-Java 5250 emulators available ?
We're trying to be Java-free in our company.

Looks like the old IBM I Access software is Java free; IBM i Access - Windows

Downside being that it's no longer supported by IBM as it was replaced by the Java version.

          There's mochasoft http://mochasoft.dk/

The open source one (which is the one included with VS Code plugins, too) that I helped write is here: https://tn5250.sourceforge.net/ (Though it's suffering since everyone uses ACS, so not so many people are collaborating on maintaining it anymore.) But... it's written in C.

Back when I worked at Profound Logic, I helped write a web-based emulator. It's commercial so you'd have to pay for it, but it runs on the IBM i, and all you need on the PC is a browser -- it's called Genie... https://www.profoundlogic.com/genie/

those are the ones I use regularly -- I feel like there are at least a half dozen more, but I haven't had a need to put together a complete list of all options.

What is the reason for not wanting to use Java?
