  • Service tools user ID

Now I did it. I've disabled the Service tools user ID. I used the password the service guy gave me but it didnt work.

    How do I reenable it?

I've read that there is a QSECOFR user profile and a QSECOFR service tools ID which are separate animals. I've also seen references to SST and DST. Do you use the same Service User ID to access both?

I know my QSECOFR user profile id. Thats still enabled. I've used CHGDSTPWD to try to reset the Service User ID password back to the default password of QSECOFR as instructed by

When I try to log on to STRSST it says the password isn't correct. After theree tries using uppercase, lowercase and variations it always disables it again.

    What am I missing?

Did you try to enter another password and not use *DEFAULT?

You can only use *same which reenable the account to what ever the forgotten password was or *default which will reset it to what it was when the OS was installed which according to the documentation I found was QSECOFR.

        Re: Service tools user ID

I had done this in a prior life and had to do a manual IPL and then there was an option on one of the many screens that asked me to reset default passwords.

This did reset *ALL default passwords Sorry I have never used CHGDSTPWD.

After you reset to *DEFAULT, did you try QSECOFR with pasword QSECOFR (all upper case) ?

Also, you can use DST to enable SST profile using function 21 from the control panel.

the is also a SST profile of 22222222 that should have a password assigned. This can be used as the SST logon.

I may try that DST from the function 21 control panel if I can figure out how to convert that to doing it thru the HMC on the 520.
