  • BRMS & Archiving QAUDJRN

Keep in mind, I am not a BRMS expert. I just read the redbook and whatever I could find online and went at it.

We need to archive QAUDJRN to a tape library. We would like to leave a tape in the tape library and just have a process run that automatically does the job of archiving any QUADJRN receivers on a daily basis.

The problem I have is that the tape that is used gets unmounted or ejected every night or the process find another tape and backs up to it.

How can I set up BRMS to back up to the exact same tape every night? Are there commands to ensure that a tape I want is mounted and/or the category is changed from *EJECT.

By the way, our tape library is a 3584.

At this time, this process needs manual intervention.

    Thanks in advance...

    Hiya LowJay,

You have to use a program solution that queries the BRMS database and finds the last tape used, then issue a mount request for that.

We have something working, but we use a Storagetek powderhorn tape library, so we use RMLS software to talk between BRMS and the library, so if your 3584 is an IBM library then you would need to tweak it.

Do you have the save of the QAUDJRN set to use a control group ?
