  • Unauthorised User

    Hi,

Sometimes some users cannot access with their user ids, the following messages is displayed on the first, second and consec utive attempts to login:

CPF1392 Next not valid sign-on disables user profile.
CPF1133 Value is not a valid name.
CPF1394 User profile CHITRA cannot sign on.
CPF1394 User profile CHITRA cannot sign on.
CPF1394 User profile CHITRA cannot sign on.

But the same user can login from a different PC, though it is not always fixed. Trying luck all the time.

I am trying to enable/change the password using wrkusrprf.. no where I go but stucking...

Please suggest the possible causes and the solution for the same.

    Thanks in advance.

    REgards,
    Praveen.

    Re: Unauthorised User

Im guessing because of your limited details

Your device descriptions are secured. Sometimes all devices are
secured then only the profiles that the IT/IS genius wants to sign on..
on the specific device are given authority to do so.

edtobjaut on one of the devices a user can not sign on to and check
    the authority.

      Re: Unauthorised User

      If that doesn't work:
You could also try checking the sysval QLMTDEVSSN.
if set to 1, a user cannot sign-on at more than one device.
      If that doesn't work:
You could also try checking the sysval QLMTSECOFR.
if set to 1, users with *ALLOBJ or *SERVICE special authorities can
sign-on only at a device to which they have explicit
      authority.

            Re: Unauthorised User

there's also a more likely issue. since the user can signon using a different PC i'm guessing that the PC is "caching" the login credentials when the user first logs into the PC. what happens (if client access is set up to bypass signon) is that it tries to use the windows user id and password and the password is different from the as/400, iSeries, System i,POWER(and the flavor of the month). when the connection is made to the device in the emulation session it uses the "cached" version of the credentials and disables the profile. i've seen it happen too many times. change the client access properties to prompt for user ID and password and see if that helps. the reason it works on the other PC is that the user that "owns" that PC has the password the same on both systems. once the connection is successful the "signon" screen comes into play and any user can sign on to the system from that PC since the initial connection was accepted.

Tomholden its really clear as mud.. I understood perfectly.. I am working on Mapics AS400..So, I ll ve to reinstall the mapics so that my client access should take the correct credentials.

Initially I tried with editing the obj aut from *Use to *Change.. did not help. letz c..

Thanks to jamief, kitvb1, and tomholden for your valuable inputs..

                Re: Unauthorised User

This doesn't sound like a Mapics problem. More likely the iSeries Access session is getting disabled becuase of the bad userid/password.

                > CPF1392 Next not valid sign-on disables user profile.

Bad userid or password entered. We haven't got to Mapics yet.

                > CPF1133 Value is not a valid name.

The entry is not valid. A name is required but something else entered (such as numerics or special chars)

                > CPF1394 User profile CHITRA cannot sign on.

Account is disabled. Do a WRKUSRPRF and change status to *ENABLED

Its also possible that the iSeries Access has "Bypass signon" selected. In this case, it will try to logon using the Windows userid & password. If they are not the same, the account will eventually get disabled.

                  Re: Unauthorised User

Yeah, I also feel that this is not because of Mapics as I am stuck in AS400 itself. The problem resolved once I have reinstalled the client access(Emulator).

But this problem remains with other users in other systems..
Just by doing few hit n trial methods in the Configuration it works. I want to tell you that no by pass no auto reconnect nor gave the option to take windows id pwd.
