    Hi,

I want to try coding in C. I tried to create a code with C type and compile using option 14 but was given an error. It says that I need to install the QSYSINC library. I go to the LICPGM and look for the option 13-System Openness. I am afraid to install the option because I might affect the production box. Does it take long to install that option and does it need a considerable space to install? And i am afraid that the install will re-ipl the system because a lot of users are currently log and using it.

    Thanks in advance
    Greg

    Re: Qsysinc

I have never seen that installing a lic pgm would require an ipl. This will not effect your production box. Nothing uses it now so why would it. How long will it take, depends on the size of your system..activity on your system, but most likely just a few minutes.

But it is better to be safe then sorry, do the install after a system save. Thats where many a weekend of a it boy's live has gone.

Even if an install requires an IPL, it won't IPL automatically on you. You will want to get PTF's again after install.

Unless on the install you tell it to IPL (which is the default if memory serves...)
