Java feature in AS/400

Dear Code 400,

when I write "GO LICPGM", there are Java installed there, I want to know what can we do with java in AS 400? or for what purpose java used in AS 400?

Thx Moderator for your info.

But i still wondering, as we know with IBM tool box, we can do many thing with AS 400 from java in PC based , see for example we can connect to database, run CL or RPG from Java in PC, and many others

so, I want to know what java in Iserries intended to , where java in PC can not do? for simply, for what case we should use jave iserries than java in PC based?

If you don't need a graphical user interface for your program, a native application will run much faster than a remote (on the PC) application.

Thank you for the answer, it give me more view about java feature in AS/400.
Btw, During this couple days, I have make java program which run in IFS AS/400 with QShell and integrate with CL, so anybody want to discuss about this, I'll be glad to share
