  • Convert RPG/400 output specifications to printer files

Is anyone aware of any utilities that will convert program defined RPG/400 output specifications to exteranlly described printer files (preferably ones that can be read by RDi and used in an ILE environment)? It is my understanding that you cannot do output specs in totally free form RPGIV. Thanks, Pat

I don't know of any such utility (but I never really looked).

Prior to the latest **FREE change that eliminated the column restrictions, I&O specs were just fine.

I seem to remember that Midrange Computing published such a utility back in the 90's. I did not find it with a quick Google search, but it may be out there somewhere.

Craig Rutledge has a free utility that does just that, and it works great. We used it to convert dozens of O-spec RPG programs to external print files.
