    Re: FREE vs FIXED RPG

Well, I guess I'll add my 2 cents as well.

First of all, I like the positive tone of this thread despite the fact that this could be one of those subjects that gets people very "passionate." (Much like discussions on goto or using the cycle.)

    New programs = free
    Maintenance =
    * If the WDSC conversion results in excessive mixing of fixed/free, it stays fixed.
    * If the WDSC conversion results in a handful of mixing fixed/free and I can easily go through and correct the few that are there, it goes to free.

      /free

I was just gonna sit this one out in the corner
      myself.....

      I like /FREE , at first I didnt cause I had to
constantly look stuff up and with the lack of
good resources on /FREE ( ) I was always angry.

As time passed I actually learned to like it.
I use it from all "*NEW construction".
When doing maintenance I try my best when adding
to NON-FREE (ENSLAVED) RPG to make a subroutine
with my changes at the end of the program.
(prior to *INZSR/ or your favorite initial subrountine)

Knowing that someday all programs will be /FREE and that
      I helped to /FREE them.

      /end-free

hey jamie... why not run a poll?

with a sub-poll being... do those who prefer set their windoze XP deskop to classic view?

Methinks there might be an interesting correlation there.

Or those you choose to run a different interface instead of explorer.exe on your windoze machine. One that is lighter.

Sorry, maybe I'm just too old today, but WTF? A different windoze interface than explorer.exe? Please enlighten this old codger.

How is Vista working out for you Jamie? I didn't like it when it was first released. They say they have improved it with some fixes. My opinion is that the "new and improved" interface was quite a resource hog. UBUNTU is my favorite You should ask for the new distro for Christmas

                  Re: FREE vs FIXED RPG

I like Vista but to be honest I'd never switch from XP to Vista just to do it.
Our outside sales staff has Vista... I just got it to help me in support.

                    Re: FREE vs FIXED RPG

Yeah, I've heard a lot of people complaining about the new word format.

I use a little thing called litestep. You can find it here

The only time explorer.exe is running on my machine is when I use MyComputer. I have yet to find an alternative directory program that is window based and works with litestep. So it runs now and then. But when I'm done viewing stuff in MyComputer, or the other files in my directories, explorer.exe goes away.

explorer.exe is not to be confused with iexplore.exe(internet explorer) Two different programs
