  • How to import and export source code and objects

Hi guys! I'm really a noob!

How can I export a source code/object from my 5250 emulator? What I do is to create a hard copy by copying the text from the screen of my emulator and pasting it into a text editor. It's very inconvenient to me. At the same time how can I import a source code/object from windows to my AS400 machine (through emulator)? please help a newbie like me

    Hi ghost,

you could use ftp, websphere or operations navigator.
Websphere is about the simplest although navigator is very simlar (if I remember correctly the member must have a .mbr extension).

          To Import.
with WS started, just drag & drop the text doc (but with a .mbr extension) onto the file you want to import it to.

            To Export
            Using your client access emulation:
            Click receive files from host,
type in the name e.g. mylib/myfile(mymbr)
Select File as output and click details box, click create new file, click ok,
click browse, select your directory, and type your filename, click open,
            click transfer from iseries
            Regards

What you want is WDSc, the Webshpere Development Sudio Client. Not the same thing as the Websphere Apl Server. Not available as a download (AFAIK), but comes free with any compiler, on a seperate set of CDs. You can store the source anywhere you want.

Also, the source on the system is in data files. You just need to specifiy the member you want and you can download like any other file.
