Normally you would be given your couple of directories, and you play around in those only.

Note to self... go to bed at 3am, do not write anything in forums otherwise you'll just get it all wrong!

Hi,
the method posted by tomholden is the way to go.
If this wont work (error 425 might result from a firewall on your local site)
try
=> quote site pasv
before the bin command.
