    Re: synon

Its a code generator....It prompts you with questions and then behind your answers it writes code.

You would have to find someone with it installed.

All my answers were extracted from the "Big Dummy's Guide to the As400"
and I take no responsibility for any of them.

I have worked with Synon for many years and just wanted to clarify something. Yes, it is a code generator. No, it doesn't prompt you with questions. It is also worth noting that Synon has been around since 1984 so its a very solid product. It has been renamed several times along the way, such as COOL 2E, Advantage 2E, AllFusion 2E, CA 2E. There is a CA conference scheduled for September 19 through 21 in Cincinnati. That might provide you with an introduction to 2E.

Hey minishoppe... I found your posting a little strange. Why do you feel a need to repeat yourself? Am I missing something?

                Re: synon

You must or should know AS400 before jumping into Synon, the CASe tool. Now that DB2 is available on AS400, RDBMS can be easily implemented on OS/400. BAck in days of 1984, AS/400 was object based MAchine with no data integrity checks.

Synon provided Model based Data modelling approach and built in data integrity. Hence it bacame instant Hit as you don't need to know too much about Cobol or RPG. As long as you stay in Synon, you can learn a lot.

With recent out sourcing of Jobs to India, Synon work has increased exponentially there. There are Jobs in Synon in Pune?

                Good luck ?
