because IBM Marketing is apparently the LOWEST priority in the whole organization. why? heck if i know. they have the best OS in existence and yet they believe that "if we build it, they will come". <tic>they likely spend $40 billion on entertainment and $10 on marketing per year</tic> if they would only hire some M$ marketers what a difference it would make

Do they really believe "if we build it, they will come" or is it more "are people really still buying this"? I think it would be a hard platform to market even if you did have the budget.
Are you looking for a new platform that does all the following?
Old DOS style interface? (green screen)
Supports all programming languages from the 1960's?
Expensive upfront costs and upgrades?
DB2 included but missing all of the advanced features you get with the full version?
Lack of "off the shelf" software?
Ok, I've exaggerated the bad bits and missed out all of the good stuff but you will always be struggling to get people to see past this. I once went to a meeting where we were pitching an AS400 solution and a competitor was pitching a Unix solution. One of their arguments was "why would you want to go for this ancient system"? The funny thing is Unix was created in 1969 and the S/38 in 1979 so Unix is ten years older!

I just started working on AS400 system and One thing I really hate about this thing is that green interface,
It's just seems that IBM really hates programmers and wants to torture them,
there are GUI IDE tools available for the system for programmers and sys admins. if you really wanted to most likely you might never have to touch a green screen...but i can do tons of things 10x faster on the 5250 session than using the "pretty" dumbed down interfaces...but that's just me.
