  • How to get Data Source Explorer to display field name instead of alternative?

Data source explorer shows what DSPFFD calls "Alternative" instead of the Field names (we all know and love, LOL), and I'd much rather type a 6 character field name than a 20 character one. It also uses the same value for column headings so all fields are a mile wide in results.

Does anyone know how to get it to use and display the normal field names?

I now have RDi and am learning it, but don't have Quantum installed with it. I haven't figured out how to get it to work with RDi. I also have Squirrel, but it has the same problem with fieldnames.

    Any ideas?

PS: I got Quantum DB installed and running and it has the same problem, ie using the alternative field name

Instead of using the DSPFFD CL-Command try to access the SQL VIEW - SYSCOLUMNS located within the QSYS2 Schema.
