  • RDi Report Designer - Absolute vs. Relative Record

In Pallette View in RDi Report Deisgner, what is the difference between an Absolute Record and a Relative Record? Should you use Absolute Record to create report headers and relative rcord for detail records? Should column headings be in a separate relative record from the report header record or can they be combined? Any thoughts would be very helpful. Thanks, Pat.

Re: RDi Report Designer - Absolute vs. Relative Record

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe an absolute record is one that has specific line numbers and will always print on the specified lines. That would mean that a relative record is one that is relative to the previous line and uses space and skip to get there. I usually put column headings in the same record format as report headings (absolute records) and report detail as relative records.
