FYI: I got this email from www.easy400.net this week...
- if you are a user of library MMAIL (the "MIME & MAIL" freeware distributed from www.easy400.net)
- if you want to convert to PDF your SCS spool files
- if you ever found out the the CVTSPLSTMF utility just works with CCSID 37 (U.S. only) and raised a claim on it after experiencing Adobe error 110
then we got good news for you.
CVTSPLSTMF is a nice piece of freeware originally developed by Peter Clifford in July 2000.
It is included in MMAIL. CVTSPLSTMF is made of three programs. One of these programs, CVTSPLPDF, is an RPGLE program, able to convert an SCS spool file to a .pdf stream file.
The problem with it is that some special characters used by Adobe Reader to understand the PDF layout are hard coded in the program and would just work if the CCSID of the JOB is the same as the CCSID of the source member used to compile the program.
Recently we have made such special characters independent from the job CCSID. This means that you can NOW successfully run command CVTSPLSTMF on any single byte CCSID.
If your country is France, Germany, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Italy, Greece, Israel, Portugal, U.K., Ireland, Iceland, Australia, South Africa, etc., just download MMAIL current version (February 16, 2008) from www.easy400.net and convert your SCS spool files to PDF at no cost using command MMAIL/CVTSPLSTMF .
