  • Send spooled file from one AS/400 to another

    Hi,

I have a spooled file on one AS/400 and I need to get it onto another.

    Any tips would be appreciated.

SNDNETSPLF...(or option 1 from WRKSPLF screen)

You will need SNADS installed and configured with Tom's solution. Make sure that you have directory entries in both systems.

Alternatively, CPYSPLF (make sure to use the *PRTCTL option); FTP the file to the other machine and then re-create it with a simple RPG program.

or if you are on V5R4 or later.....

SAVOBJ to a save file, get the spool file to the other machine and restore

Thanks guys. Is it possible for me to create an outq on the local box and direct it at the remote box, so whenever I place a spooled file on the local outq it will send to the remote box?

Yes, when you create the output queue, specify the remote system and remote output queue. Use the STRRMTWTR to have spool files in that output hit the other machine. Prerequisite for this is SNADS or IP.
